Publisher’s note: I first began reporting on events at Hagood Mill back in 1999, when I became the Editor of The Pickens Sentinel. Before then, and after then, I passed by Hagood Mill many times, sometimes stopping, on the way to and on the way back from family reunions at my late grandparents’ church, Mountain Grove. The mill site has had positive changes with several additions over the years and continues to be a draw for tourism, bringing visitors from all over to Pickens County, and continues to be an asset for our county’s citizens, as it preserves a part of our past and offers so much for people today. I love history and love when history is preserved for present and future generations. ~~ Karen Brewer
