Pickens County Museum of Art & History to host opening reception for Memories of Place by artist Laurie N. Hatch
The Pickens County Museum will host an opening reception for Memories of Place, artwork by Laurie N. Hatch, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. The event is free, and free refreshments will be available.
Artist Statement by Laurie N. Hatch: “As a painter, my objective is to suggest a scene to the viewer, supplying the shapes and color values of a scene while allowing conclusions and details to be drawn by the viewers’ imagination and memory. My hope is that the viewer will place themselves in the painting. If, through my efforts, I am able to spark memories of a place and time, or allow the viewer to imagine same, I have accomplished what I set out to do.”
The Pickens County Museum is located at 307 Johnson Street in Pickens, at the corner of Johnson Street and Highway 178.
