On Monday, December 9, 2024, members of the Liberty Community Scholarship Board honored three Liberty High School students as first through third place winners of the Create our Christmas Card art contest. Certificates and cash prizes were presented to the students at the school.
The first place winner is Elizabeth Thrasher, whose artwork has been on display at the Pickens County Museum of Art & History, as previously published in The Pickens County Chronicle. The second place winner is Niylah Granger, and the third place winner is Khaia Brown. “We were very impressed with each of these young ladies,” Lisa Carpenter, of the Liberty Community Scholarship Board, told The Chronicle. Community leaders Brian and Tonya Strickland are the sponsors for this contest, she said.
“Our art contest has a myriad of purposes,” she added, “including the recognizing of young Liberty High School artists, promoting the utilization of scholarships as a means of fulfilling dreams.”
Carpenter also added, “Liberty Mayor Erica Woods has long been a supporter of LCS and all our projects to encourage students in their dreams.”
