Easley High School is excited to announce Mr. Jordan Hawthorne as the new Head Wrestling Coach for the Green Wave. Coach Hawthorne is currently the assistant wrestling coach at Hillcrest High School. Prior to coming to Hillcrest, Coach Hawthorne was the Head Wrestling Coach at Crescent High School and the Assistant Coach at Powdersville High School. Coach Hawthorne has also served as an assistant football coach at his previous schools. Coach Hawthorne was a standout wrestler for both Greer High School and Belmont Abbey College.
When asked of his plans for the Green Wave, Coach Hawthorne responded, “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the program and am excited about what we can accomplish going forward! My girlfriend, Emilee, and myself, along with our 3 dogs, look forward to joining the Easley community and the Easley High School family!”
Easley Athletic Director Gill Payne commented, “I am very excited that Coach Hawthorne has agreed to join the Green Wave Family. When the hiring process began, his name was the one that stood out in the wrestling community as the top candidate. Our wrestling students and parents are in for some exciting times ahead.”
Coach Hawthorne graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from Belmont Abbey College in 2021. He is currently completing the Praxis Licensure Program for a teaching certification in Social Studies and will be employed at Easley High School beginning in the fall. Coach Hawthorne also plans to be involved as an assistant coach with our football program beginning this summer.
There will be a community meet and greet for Coach Hawthorne and Emilee on Monday, April 14 at 6 p.m. in the main gym of the high school.
