Hagood Mill Historic Site receives $1 million from the State of South Carolina to complete the Heritage Pavilion; groundbreaking is set for Wednesday, March 19

The Hagood Mill Historic Site announced in a press release to The Pickens County Chronicle on March 13 that it has received a $1 million investment from the State of South Carolina, thanks to the dedicated efforts of State Representative Davey Hiott, to complete the construction of the Heritage Pavilion. This premier gathering space will serve as a hub for cultural heritage, community events, and educational programs.

Nestled within the scenic grounds of this historic landmark, the Heritage Pavilion will enhance the visitor experience by providing a beautiful and functional venue for a variety of events, from live performances and festivals to private gatherings and educational workshops. This much-anticipated addition will further Hagood Mill’s mission of preserving and celebrating South Carolina’s rich cultural traditions.

A Hub for Events and Cultural Programs

Designed to complement the rustic charm of Hagood Mill, the Heritage Pavilion will serve as the centerpiece for many signature events, including:

Live Music Performances – Guests can enjoy Appalachian, bluegrass, folk, and traditional music as part of Third Saturday Events and special concerts.

Heritage Festivals and Craft Demonstrations – Hands-on learning opportunities in blacksmithing, spinning, wood carving, and other traditional skills.

Educational & Community Programs – A welcoming space for storytelling, history talks, and cultural workshops.

The Hagood Mill Foundation has selected Engineering Design and Construction Services – David Cox to oversee the project, with an estimated completion date of August 2025.
