Flu cases remain high in the state and the Upstate

Flu cases remain at a high level in the state and in the Upstate. The South Carolina Department of Health, on Wednesday, February 19, released data for the week of Sunday, February 9 through Saturday, February 15, with providers in 22 counties reporting.
For this week ending February 15, 3,144 lab-confirmed tests were reported, and 689 flu-related hospitalizations were reported by 64 hospitals.
During this week, 35 flu-related deaths were reported, although five of those deaths occurred in previous weeks and 30 deaths occurred this week. This flu season, 139 flu-related deaths have been reported in South Carolina, with 61 of those deaths in the Upstate.
