Celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 5, Clemson University recognizes alumnae who have built careers in sports media

In celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 5, Clemson University is recognizing the alumnae who have built careers in sports media—breaking barriers, shaping coverage, and inspiring the next generation. Their experiences showcase the impact of a Clemson education far beyond the sidelines.

 

Clemson has had several alumnae go on to work for some of the most visible networks in sports media, including ESPN and NASCAR. 

 

In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Clemson World magazine and Clemson University invited some of them back to campus for a special roundtable discussion about their experiences working in the industry, the role Clemson played in their professional journeys, and much more.

ESPN and ACC network women’s college basketball analyst Kelly Gramlich ’14, M ’16, NASCAR host and reporter Alex Weaver ‘16, PGA Tour senior content producer Ali Kerns ‘18, and cinematographer Madison Williams ‘18 are just some of the Clemson alumnae now working in sports media. As part of the celebration of the 50th year of women’s athletics at the University, the young professionals share their insights and experiences of getting established in a traditionally male-dominated industry. They also reveal the role Clemson played in helping them launch their careers.
