The Pickens County Museum of Art and History was the location for the celebration of the birthday of Revolutionary War General Andrew Pickens, for whom our county and county seat were named. The special event, held Friday, September 13, 2024, was hosted by the Pickens County 250 Committee, and audience members included several chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as well as the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and State House Representative Neal Collins.

Pickens County 250 Chair Carolyn Nations welcomed everyone and introduced local historian and writer Dennis Chastain, who spoke and gave a slideshow presentation about the Battle of Esseneca.
