Publisher’s note: Readers will find many Clemson University-related news stories in the Local News pages of The Pickens County Chronicle, as the university is an important part of Pickens County. On a personal note, Clemson University has been an important part of my life, as Clemson is my alma mater and is also where I gained valuable journalism experience. Before I reported about Clemson University and published Clemson University news releases as the Editor of The Pickens Sentinel, I worked for Clemson University News Services and University Relations (Clemson Media Relations), in the Trustee House on campus, when I was an undergraduate student at Clemson, writing Clemson University news releases sent to the news media, as well as writing for Clemson World magazine and writing a Clemson University television commercial. Also while an undergraduate student, I wrote stories as a staff writer for The Tiger, Clemson University’s student newspaper, and, as a journalism student, I wrote about Clemson University for The Clemson Messenger newspaper. Clemson did not have a journalism major, so journalism was my minor, and my major was English (Literature). As a Liberal Arts major, I also studied many other different subjects, but I especially loved literature, and I also studied English (Literature) for my master’s degree at Clemson. So, there’s a special place in my heart for Clemson University and the Clemson campus. ~~ Karen Brewer
