On Wednesday, March 11, from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., a second special event will honor the life of Dennis Chastain, three months following the ‘Gathering of Family and Friends Drop-in’ held at the Hagood Mill Historic Site’s Pavilion on December 6. The March 11 event will be held at the Bryson’s Children’s Nature Walk in Six Mile. (The Community Room at Six Mile Town Hall will be an alternate location in the case of rain.)

Sponsored by the Town of Six Mile and the Pickens County 250 Committee (of which Chastain was a member), the event will include welcoming remarks by Pickens County 250 Committee Chair Carolyn Nations, an invocation by Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church Pastor Dr. Jeff Rogers, and ‘Memories of Dennis’ shared by Six Mile Mayor James Atkinson (also a member of the Pickens County 250 Committee and the Pickens County Historical Society), Upstate Forever Executive Director Aldon Knight, Pickens County Historical Society Senior Vice President Wayne Kelley, and anyone else who may wish to share memories, and closing remarks by Mayor Atkinson.

A social time will follow the event, and anyone who wishes to do so may hike the trail.
