United Christian Ministries will hold a masquerade ball fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 at Southern Wesleyan University’s University Dining Commons – The Founders Room, 120 Childs Street in Central. Tickets must be purchased by Friday, August 15.

In July of 1989, United Christian Ministries (UCM) opened its doors, thanks to local church leaders who joined efforts to create a ministry for emergency basic needs assistance. This year, UCM is celebrating 36 years of service in Pickens County and the Powdersville area.

Last year, UCM provided about $40,000 of rental assistance to 82 families, $31,000 of utility assistance to 172 families, 200,000 pounds of food to 7,834 individuals, and $500 worth of clothing to more than 250 families.
