The town of Six Mile, along with veterans groups in Pickens County and the Pickens County Fire Service, will hold traditional Memorial Day services in downtown Six Mile on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as well as other locations to remember those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of service and to honor those who have served our country.
The day’s events will begin outside Six Mile Town Hall by placing the American flag at half-staff at 8 a.m. A traditional service will be held at 11:35 a.m. outside Six Mile Town Hall, including the pledge of allegiance, invocation, and remarks to honor all those who gave their lives in service to the United States. This includes Pickens County’s four Medal of Honor recipients — all of whom were from the Six Mile area, making it the most per capita in the United States. A wreath presentation and flag ceremony will be followed by the playing of “Taps.”
New this year: Following the Six Mile ceremony, additional remembrance events will be held at four other locations across the county.
