The following students were recognized at the School District of Pickens County’s monthly board meeting on Monday, March 25, 2024.
SDPC Elementary Honor Choir – The SDPC Elementary Honor Choir performed “God Bless America” and the National Anthem at the start of our monthly board meeting.
Liberty High School Wrestling:
Sophomore Alex Allison – won his second consecutive state championship in the 106-pound weight class
Junior Jonah Pierce won the 113-pound weight class State Championship
Junior Bray Cain won the 132-pound weight class State Championship
Junior JT Spence won his second consecutive state championship in the 175-pound weight class.
2024 Work-Based Learning Students of the Year:

Connor Thomas, Pickens County Career & Technology Center
We have a growing and robust work-based learning experience program. A work-based learning experience provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on work experience in the student’s career cluster before the student graduates from high school.
SDPC Technology Champion – Vicky Wen, Easley High School
Pickens County DECA:
The PCCTC Chapter of DECA competed at the state level and the following students placed first in their category:
Caton Tsao, Mohammed Bensriati, Brian Truong (DHS)
Keyla Zhao (DHS)
Arjun Jain (DHS)
These students will travel to Anaheim, California to represent South Carolina in late April.
PCCTC HOSA:
The PCCTC HOSA Chapter competed at the state level and the following students placed first in the Public Service Announcement Category:
Melanie McKinnon, Daniel High
Jordan McLane, Daniel High
Makak Mohamed, Daniel High
Addie Nebesky, Daniel High
Chloe Prosser, Daniel High
They will represent South Carolina at the national competition in Houston, Texas in late June.
