U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 11, 2026, came home to his childhood hometown of Central for a final time on Wednesday, July 29, to be buried beside his parents, Florence James ‘F.J.’ and Millie Graham, at Central’s Mount Zion Cemetery.

At the intersection of Church Street and Main Street, the Central and Easley Fire Departments raised a large American flag, under which drove the procession, including the hearse carrying Graham’s American-flag draped casket.

After two public funeral services in our nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. (in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda and in the Washington National Cathedral) on Tuesday, July 28, and a public funeral service in our state’s capital of Columbia (in First Baptist Church) on Wednesday, July 29, a private burial service was held on Wednesday, July 29 at Central’s Mount Zion Cemetery.

Firefighters and some local citizens stood respectfully as the procession drove by and turned left from Church Street onto Main Street toward the cemetery.
