SCDOT closes Old Seneca Road bridge, will begin repairs immediately

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced on Thursday, July 24, 2025 that the Old Seneca Road bridge over Six Mile Creek would be temporarily closed, after a preliminary inspection and due to what SCDOT called “an abundance of caution” following the July 21 collapse of the bridge on Crowe Creek Road.
After an in-depth inspection on Friday, July 25, SCDOT stated that repairs would begin immediately and should take two weeks to complete. Old Seneca Road will be open only to residents, but the bridge site will be closed for two weeks.
SCDOT stated that they and law enforcement will make sure that drivers in the vicinity are “complyling with size and weight limits.”

Detour Route for Traffic Southbound Old Seneca Road: Motorists traveling southbound on Old Seneca Road will be directed to take Six Mile Highway (SC-133) to Jones Mill Road. They will then turn right onto Jones Mill Road where they will find Old Seneca Road.
Detour Route for Traffic Northbound Old Seneca Road: Motorists traveling northbound on Old Seneca Road will be directed to take Jones Mill Road east to Six Mile Highway (SC-133). They will then turn left onto Six Mile Highway (SC-133) and proceed north to Old Seneca Road.
