Pickens County announces cooling shelters will be open
With temperatures forecasted at 100 degrees and the heat index (feels-like temperature) up to 110 for the next few days, Pickens County has announced that local cooling shelters will be open from Friday, July 25 through Wednesday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
The shelters are as follows:
In Liberty: Liberty Fire Station, 206 West Front Street
In Pickens: Pickens Rural Fire Station, 756 Concord Church Road
In Pumpkintown: Pumpkintown Fire Station, 5205 Pumpkintown Highway
In Easley: City of Easley Fire Headquarters, 1089 South Pendleton Street
Pickens County advises everyone to stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water, and also to limit outdoor activities.
