Pickens County announces that cooling centers will be open this week
On Monday morning, June 23, Pickens County announced that cooling centers will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily beginning today through at least Thursday, June 26, to offer relief from the heat. Pickens County Emergency Services personnel will make a determination later in the week about whether to extend into Friday based on the weather forecast.
Each cooling center will also have water and charging stations available.
The cooling centers will be located at the Liberty, Pickens Rural and Pumpkintown Fire Departments. the Pickens Rec Department and Easley Police, Fire, and Rec Departments.
