Pickens County announces Andy Childs as Emergency Management Director
Pickens County announces Andy Childs as Pickens County’s new Emergency Management Director.
After serving for more than a year as the deputy director of Emergency Management, Andy Childs has been promoted to director. Andy began his career in public service as a volunteer firefighter with Pickens County. This led him to full-time service in Greenville County and later the City of Easley Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Fire Marshal. Andy has extensive experience with technical rescue, hazardous materials, and emergency communications. He has utilized and developed these skills by serving at the state level with the South Carolina Emergency Response Task Force 1 and the South Carolina Helicopter Rescue Team.
Chief of Emergency Services Billy Gibson said Andy’s background and experience will be a huge asset to the citizens of Pickens County.
