Mable Owens Clarke to speak about Soapstone Baptist Church on February 15
The Captain Kimberly Hampton Memorial Library will host a special presentation by Deacon Mable Owens Clarke of the Soapstone Baptist Church on Sunday, February 15 at 3 p.m.
Soapstone Baptist Church, established in 1865 by freed slaves, is the cornerstone of the Liberia Community, an enclave of African-American culture and history in Pickens County. We are so excited for the opportunity to share the story of this historic place.
