Pickens County Administrator Ken Roper is named President of South Carolina Association of County Managers, Administrators, and Supervisors

Members of Pickens County Council and senior staff attended the South Carolina Association of Counties’ Institute of Government and Annual Conference, held August 4-6, 2025. This annual event provides elected officials and staff with advanced training, networking opportunities and strategies to better serve our community.
 
Highlights from the conference in addition to training include:
 
– County Administrator Ken Roper was named president of the South Carolina Association of County Managers, Administrators and Supervisors.
 
– Jessica Varney, Ken Roper and Allison Fowler graduated from Level II of the Institute of Government, completing advanced coursework on local governance.
 
– Council and senior staff took part in a “speed networking” session to share key insights and discuss current issues affecting Pickens County.
 
– Senior staff also met to report on county operations and coordinate efforts for the week ahead.
