On May 20, 2017, Clemson University celebrated with a special ceremony the restoration of the front porch of Hopewell Plantation, made possible by a donation from the Andrew Pickens chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Speakers for the event were Will Hiott (Director of Historic Properties at Clemson University), Rod Andrew (professor and author of The Life and Times of General Andrew Pickens: Revolutionary War Hero, American Founder), and Bill Steinkuller  (Chair of the Historic Properties Alumni Advisory Committee).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony by members of the Andrew Pickens DAR chapter was followed by self-guided tours of Hopewell, with music by Joyful Hearts and a booksigning by Rod Andrew.
