Pickens County Journalism Since 1999
Noah’s Ark Plumbing is asking for gently used towels and blankets, Dawn dish detergent, dog toys, leashes, collars, and other pet supplies for the Pickens County Animal Shelter, when they hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Greater Pickens Chamber of Commerce on Friday, February 27 from noon to 2 p.m. Free food will be available, and dog treats will be available for anyone who brings their pet.
As an animal lover, owner Noah Kerlin chose the name “Noah’s Ark” to reflect his heart for giving back to the community, and, each month, the company donates a portion of its income to the Pickens County Animal Shelter.
Noah earned his South Carolina plumbing license after years of working in the trade. He also earned a Master’s degree in Education before transitioning into plumbing several years ago. In addition to running his business, Noah volunteers at the shelter, walks dogs, and helps promote animals available for adoption.
The journey hasn’t been without challenges. Just 10 days after opening his business, Noah and his wife were hit by a driver on Farrs Bridge Road. The accident injured Noah’s back and totaled his older backup truck. In late December, while stopped at a traffic light in his work truck, he was rear-ended by another driver. This second accident resulted in a cervical spine injury. Noah required months of medical treatment and had to borrow money to replace his work truck. Despite these setbacks, Noah remains committed to serving both his customers and the community.
