Mable Owens Clarke to hold fish fry fundraiser for Soapstone Baptist Church Sept. 13

Well, she’s at it again.

Mable Owens Clarke is going to hold another of her famous fish fry lunches at Soapstone Baptist Church from noon to 5 p.m. on September 13. As a spry 83 year old, she says it’s no big deal to plan a lunch for several hundred of her friends and supporters. The fish fry will be held rain or shine. Eat on the grounds or in the dining hall or take out. The cost is $30 per person all inclusive with 100% of proceeds to benefit Soapstone Baptist Church

If you’ve never had the opportunity to enjoy one of Mable’s meals, you don’t want to miss it. For 22 years, Mable hosted such lunches once each month 10 months of each year to support the church founded by her emancipated great grandparents.

Soapstone Baptist Church is located at 296 Liberia Road in Pickens.

As an added bonus, you’ll be able to tour the restored and refurbished century-old one-room school before or after you eat.
