On Monday, February 23, 2026, the School District of Pickens County Board of Trustees approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to name Dr. Danny Hall as Interim Principal of McKissick Academy of Science and Technology (MAST), effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Hall currently serves as Assistant Principal at MAST and will assume the interim role as Mrs. Heather Touchberry transitions to Director of Innovative Services at the end of the 2025–26 school year.
Dr. Hall brings a strong background in instructional leadership, school operations, and student support systems. Since joining MAST as Assistant Principal, he has led schoolwide assessment systems, supported early literacy and math instruction in grades 4K–2, has guided teacher coaching and data conversations, and has overseen discipline, attendance, safety, and operational systems. He has also served as the school’s Multilingual Learner contact and LEA representative for 504 plans, working closely with families and staff to ensure student success.
Prior to his role at MAST, Dr. Hall served as Assistant Principal at Gettys Middle School and has experience as a third-grade teacher, sixth-grade teacher, Call Me MiSTER Coordinator, Athletic Director, Summer School Director, and Testing Coordinator. His leadership experience spans both elementary and middle school settings, with a focus on strengthening school culture, improving instructional systems, and supporting diverse learners.
“Dr. Hall understands the culture and vision of MAST and has been instrumental in supporting its continued success,” said Superintendent Dr. Danny Merck. “His experience in instructional leadership and school operations provides continuity for students, staff, and families as we prepare for the 2026–27 school year.”
“I am honored to serve as MAST’s Interim Principal next year,” said Dr. Hall. “This school means a great deal to me. I believe in our students, our staff, and the work we do every day. My focus will stay clear: Keep students first, support teachers, strengthen our systems, and protect our culture.”
Dr. Hall holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Wesleyan University, a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
