Hundreds of people participate in the 2026 Clemson 8 Challenge, an eight-mile run/walk/ruck march, on a misty Saturday morning, March 7, 2026. It was originally created for 1938 Clemson alumnus professor emeritus and WWII hero Ben Skardon, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, but has expanded to include Clemson POWs from all wars. Money raised from the event goes toward sending teams of Clemson ROTC students to participate in the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. Sophomore finance major GB Stalnaker served as master of ceremonies. (Photos by Ken Scar, courtesy to The Pickens County Chronicle)
