Hundreds of people participate in the 2026 Clemson 8 Challenge, an eight-mile run/walk/ruck march, on a misty Saturday morning, March 7, 2026. The Challenge was created to honor the 25 known Clemson alumni who suffered as POWs in all wars. It was originally created for 1938 Clemson alumnus, professor emeritus and WWII hero Ben Skardon, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, but has expanded to include Clemson POWs from all wars. It was originally created for 1938 Clemson alumnus, professor emeritus and WWII hero Ben Skardon, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, but has expanded to include Clemson POWs from all wars.
