City of Pickens selects Trey Adams as Public Works and Utilities Director
Pickens resident Trey Adams, who has served as the ClearWater Solutions (CWS) Project Manager under that firm’s outsourced water and sewer management contract with the City, has been named Public Works and Utilities Director.
The reorganized department will now handle streets, garbage collection, buildings and grounds, and water, stormwater, and wastewater utility management. The City recently gave CWS a 120-day notice that it will terminate the outsourced management of the utility system effective November 8, 2024. The savings derived from ending the contract will be invested directly into improved infrastructure and the replacement of the aging water transmission lines.
The City has accelerated work recently to replace the oldest of the city’s pipes and infrastructure and will continue to do so at a rapid pace. The next critical step will be addressing present and future source-water needs by retiring the City Lake reservoir in favor of a supply directly from Lake Keowee. The city intends to make that transition to Lake Keowee-derived water under a contract with Greenville Water by the end of this calendar year.
