On Constitution Day, September 17, 2025, Easley Mayor Lisa Talbert signed a proclamation celebrating September 17-23 as Constitution Week and joined with members of the Fort Prince George Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Pickens County 250 Committee and members of the community for a 4 p.m. bell-ringing ceremony at Easley City Hall.
Bells Across America is an annual nationwide event held at exactly 4:00 p.m. on September 17 to commemorate the signing of the United States Constitution, as bells were rung in Philadelphia at 4:00 p.m. on September 17, 1787.
The proclamation reads:
“WHEREAS, September 17, 2025 marks the Two Hundred and Thirty Eighth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
“WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize this magnificent document and the anniversary of its creation; and
“WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion; and
“WHEREAS: Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States designating September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week:
“NOW, THEREFORE, I, Lisa Talbert, Mayor of the City of Easley for the State of South Carolina do hereby proclaim September 17 through 23, 2025 to be Constitution Week in the City of Easley, South Carolina, and ask our citizens to reaffirm the ideals the framers of the Constitution had in 1787.
“IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of Easley, South Carolina on this 17th day of September, 2025.”
The four South Carolinians who signed the United States Constitution were Pierce Butler, Charles Pinckney, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, and John Rutledge.
Constitution Week has been observed since 1956, when then President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed into law a Congressional resolution which had been petitioned by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

A bell-ringing ceremony was held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 on the steps of Easley City Hall to celebrate the 238th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States.
