The morning of Saturday, March 7, 2026, the Boy Scouts of Troop 51 and the Cub Scouts of Pack 51 in Pickens held a food drive for Gleaning House Food Pantry in Pickens. The event was held in the parking lot of Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens, where the Scouts unloaded donated items of canned goods and other non-perishable food items donated by local citizens as they drove up. The two-hour event began at 10 a.m., and, by 10:30 a.m., the Scouts already had a large quantity of items donated and loaded onto a trailer.
The Gleaning House Food Pantry is located at 319 C. David Stone Road and is open on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Gleaning House volunteers serve about 150 families in Pickens County. To receive food, an application must be completed. Call 864-878-0102 for more information.
