Davey Hiott is honored as 2026 Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award recipient

As part of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce’s 78th Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration on March 19, 2026, David “Davey” Hiott was honored with the 2026 Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award.

 

Sponsored by Duke Energy, the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award pays tribute to an individual who uses their time, talent, and compassion to positively affect the lives of others in their community or in the workplace. Recipients foster a culture of citizenship and service that acts as a catalyst for others to become involved in civic and social activities.

 

This year’s recipient of the Duke Citizenship awards reflects more than two decades of public service to the people of Pickens County and the State of South Carolina.  Davey is a lifelong resident and business owner in Pickens County. He has represented his district in the South Carolina House since 2004. Throughout his tenure, he has earned a reputation as a collaborative leader focused on economic development, agriculture, education, and quality-of-life issues that directly affect local families and businesses. His steady presence in both Columbia and our community has made him a trusted advocate for the region’s priorities.

 

The Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award specifically honors individuals who foster a culture of service and inspire others to become involved in civic life. Recipients are recognized for setting an example of integrity, stewardship, and community responsibility; values Davey has demonstrated through his legislative work, business leadership, and participation in local organizations. By bringing people together across sectors and consistently supporting community initiatives, he has helped shape a stronger community.
