Meet local author Charles Hood at the Pickens Village Library on Wednesday, December 2, 2025 at 4 p.m. His book Looking for Space: My Pickens Journey shares a moving story of overcoming adversity, drawn from his experience growing up in Pickens, and reflects on how a welcoming community helped him find his place. Charles will discuss his writing journey, the inspiration behind his work, and what it takes to bring a book from idea to publication.
Guests can enjoy a live reading of an excerpt from the book, followed by a candid Q&A session where attendees can ask questions about writing, publishing, creativity, or anything else they’re curious about.
Books will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book sales go to Charles’ late son’s guitar scholarship at YAM (Young Appalachian Musicians).
