Upstate Warrior Solution honors the life and sacrifice of Easley Police Officer Matthew Hare with portrait in the Hall of Heroes

On August 7, 2025, Upstate Warrior Solution honored the life and sacrifice of Officer Matthew Hare with the addition of his portrait to the Hall of Heroes—specifically, the Blessed are the Peacemakers Gallery at the Rupert Huse Veteran Center. Upstate Warrior Solution was joined by Officer Hare’s mother, Ashley Hare, and many other family members as well as members of the Easley Police Department. Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner offered a powerful reading of the Police Officer’s Prayer. Representatives from multiple law enforcement agencies across the Upstate were also welcomed for this solemn moment of remembrance. Theresa Thompson, UWS Chief Operating Officer, spoke on the importance of remembrance and community as the entire UWS team stood in support.

Officer Matthew Hare began his service with the Easley Police Department in 2022. On August 2, 2023, at just 22 years old, Matthew was tragically killed in the line of duty while heroically attempting to save another. Officer Matthew Hare’s name now lives among heroes in the Blessed are the Peacemakers Gallery, where we remember not just how he died, but how he lived. His story now becomes part of this solemn and sacred tribute, reminding us that freedom and safety often come at a high cost. Upstate Warrior Solution is humbled to carry forward Matthew’s legacy of selfless service, and the community is invited to visit the gallery anytime to honor his memory. Upstate Warrior Solution is humbled to stand alongside the Hare family and the Easley Police Department in honoring his memory.
