




As the community mourns the passing of 12-year-old Dacusville Middle School student Payce Chappell to meningitis on Tuesday, July 1, her parents, Ryan and Jade Chappell, have created a local fundraising effort to keep alive Payce’s legacy and her love for the sport of volleyball. Her family asks that donations be made in lieu of flowers.
On Wednesday, July 2, The Pickens County Chronicle posted a link to this GoFundMe on The Chronicle‘s Local Fundraisers page.
A funeral service will be held for Payce on Monday, July 7 at noon at Berea First Baptist Church, with a visitation to be held from 10 a.m. to noon in the sanctuary. Berea First Baptist Church is located at 529 Farrs Bridge Road (Highway 183) in Greenville.
Dacusville Middle School has announced that a drop-in gathering would be held on Thursday, July 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with counselors, pastors, school staff, and therapy dogs available in the school’s Media Center, to support Payce’s fellow students, family, and friends in dealing with the grief of their loss.
