Publisher’s note: Now the site of Yoder’s at Meece Mill, open the third Saturday of each month for desserts, this historic mill on the Twelve Mile River made grits, flour, and cornmeal and operated until 1964. Its first miller was Mack Walker. After him, one of his sons, Willie Walker (who was my mother’s uncle by marriage), was a miller, as was one of Willie’s sons, Edward (my mother’s first cousin), when he was in high school. ~~ Karen Brewer
