The Liberty Community Scholarship Board is participating in the Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation’s 39th annual Festival of Trees at the Hyatt Regency, 220 North Main Street in Greenville, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through December 25, 2024.
Prior to the Festival of Trees, Liberty Community Scholarship Board member and Festival of Trees Committee Chair Frankie Summey told The Pickens County Chronicle that they would be decorating a nine-foot-tall tree on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency. “We’re going to have fun,” she said. Board members also include Lisa Carpenter, Dr. Kim Furr, Kat Albertson, and Tracy Morgan.
“This was a project the entire Board chose to do for charity,” Summey told The Chronicle, adding that their sponsor was Lillibridge Healthcare Services, Inc. “We love the fact we were doing this to help others while informing others of our scholarships for seniors at Liberty High School.”
Carpenter, who heads the Liberty Community Scholarship Board, told The Pickens County Chronicle that this is the first year they have participated in the Festival of Trees. “Our tree, I say with pride, is beautiful,” she said. “Frankie Summey oversaw everything with our tree this year, and we’re just very proud of the vision she had, the leadership she had, and the execution in bringing all of this to fruition.”
Proceeds from the Festival of Trees will go toward the creation of a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program at Bon Secours St. Francis health system. The Festival of Trees is also held at another location, the Courtyard by Marriott, 50 West Broad Street in Greenville.
