Veterans buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Central were remembered and their memory was honored the afternoon of Saturday, December 13, 2025 during the Wreaths Across America ceremony. Ann Warmuth, Wreaths Across America coordinator for the Central area, welcomed everyone to the ceremony, which began at noon at the cemetery, located on West Main Street (Highway 93).

Rob Campbell, of Alive Wesleyan Church and a Lieutenant in the Coast Guard, opened with prayer, and the posting of colors was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” (the national anthem). Cadets from D.W. Daniel High School Air Force JROTC assisted with placing wreaths for each branch of service, and veterans were saluted and presented a challenge coin. Prisoners of war and those missing in action were also remembered.

Following the playing of “Taps”, the significance of the veteran’s wreath was explained, and Central Assistant Town Administrator Tom Cloer closed the ceremony in prayer.

A wreath was then placed at each veteran’s grave throughout the cemetery.
